Yah, this is how my luck rolls. . .mere days after deciding to definitely give doc school a go,
“The situation with student loans doesn’t break down quite as neatly. Since the summer of 2007, 137 lenders have stopped funding federal loans, and 33 have suspended private programs, according to Mark Kantrowitz, publisher of FinAid.org and other financial aid websites. Part of that had to do with a cut in federal subsidies, but part was directly related to the credit crunch — issuers that pulled out tended to be those that packaged and resold loans, a market that has evaporated.
Students at community and technical colleges, especially institutions that are for-profit, are having the toughest time of it. The reason: those students are more likely to use private loans (whose credit standards have tightened), and lenders under profit pressure are less willing to write loans for shorter, one- and two-year programs — especially at schools with historically high default rates.
Federal loans aren’t completely unaffected. While Stafford loans, which are made directly to students and don’t take into account credit history, were up in the second quarter compared to a year ago, loans made to parents through the Parent PLUS program have plummeted — down 29% in dollar volume year-over-year, according to Department of Education data analyzed by Kantorwitz.”

Well I’m having an annoying little Cinderalla moment watching all my friends (well, not all, some have the same problem I do) running around enjoying, and leveling like mad in, Warhammer Online.
I am not so lucky. I experience intense lag lasting between 2 and 10 seconds, every few seconds. It is basically like the worst curse/debuff ever. The even suckier thing is the lack of support from Mythic. These douchebags don’t even have a dedicated forum and the email tech support a) assumes the problem stems from something the user is doing, b) the user is a dumbass and c) the Warhammer game is totally fine.
A and B i get, although untrue in my case. C is total bullshit. It is the shit of a bull. I’ve read hundreds of posts from people with the same issues I face (seems to revolve more times than not around a Nvidia GeForce 8800 video card, but not always).
So I send very specific feedback on what I’m experiencing (including proof that the issue is server side) and get canned responses “Defrag your hard drive!” and then “It must be your firewall!” and it goes on and on. I get more dialogue from a talking ATM machine.
Granted, WoW had a truly shitty launch, and problems lasted for months. But I could play WoW (after waiting to login for 35 minutes). Warhammer takes forever to load, AND it unplayable.
Meh, I’ll go level my WoW mage a bit.
